Tag Cloud to me has always seemed a bit confusing and yet it has been reported by several experts as being a great way to display links for search engines. That never made much sense to me. If I get confused looking at a tag cloud, chances are a search engine robot just might think the same thing. Just what is a tag cloud anyway?

Well I’m still confused. This might be good for a child who may want to pick and match the biggest words they see hoping that link will lead to the candy. But for me it seems proper structure and listing of categories might just be a better approach. Microsoft Word is a commercial word processor, and is designed by Microsoft. For WordPress Microsoft Word can cause issues. Microsoft Word was first released in 1983 under the name Multi-Tool Word for Xenix systems. However, subsequent versions were later written for several other platforms including IBM PCs running DOS in 1983 and the Apple Macintosh in 1984, the AT&T Unix PC 1985, Atari ST 1986, SCO UNIX, OS/2, and Microsoft Windows 1989. It’s a component of the Microsoft Office software system; it is also sold as a standalone product and included in Microsoft Works Suite. The current versions are Microsoft Word 2010 for Windows and 2011 for Mac.

Microsoft Word is a great tool, however when you use it with your wordpress blog or website it can cause some major headaches. WordPress does not like all the background code that comes with your Microsoft Word document. When you copy and paste it into a page or post, some very strange things can start happening to your wordpress blog or website. Microsoft Word can automatically skew your pages and post so that they do not show up correctly in every browser. You may find that Microsoft Word has caused your WordPress Side Bar to drift south and get tucked under your footer. This is not a good thing and a good reason to always double check your pages and posts in more than one browser.

So what do we do? Send a letter to the Microsoft Word creator? Although many would like to chew the ear of the creator of Microsoft Word when this happens, it may be easier to just copy your text from your wordpress and paste it into notepad and then re-copy it back into wordpress. This will remove all that un-wanted background code Microsoft Word graced your page with. Once this is done all should be back to normal.

For WordPress Microsoft Word is great just make sure you don’t paste your text directly from Microsoft Word into your WordPress website or blog and you will be fine.

For WordPress SEO is Article Marketing a good thing? It would appear our good friends at Google are not big fans of article marketing. The duplication factor of article marketing does not fit well into the quality aspects of what a good wordpress seo effort should involved as we can tell from our video. Article Marketing websites that publish articles are not often very high ranking quality type sites, so any back links you may or may not get are pretty much worthless as they lead a good Google customer down a rabbit hole and pretty much pisses them off. Due to many of the so called internet marketing gurus and automated low quality efforts. Article marketing seems to have taken a bad rap of late. WordPress Design – Removing HTTP Requests

Wordpress Design – What’s in an HTTP request?

Let’s talk about HTTP requests. When you add an image to your site, or when you put a page up. Everything has to come through an HTTP request for wordpress design.  What is an HTTP request? Basically, it stands for hyper text transfer protocol.  Every time you put a picture on your page it has to go out to the net to find it. It uses the URL and the HTTP request to do that. Every time that we make that function, it can be very time consuming on your wordpress design. If we take that request out then it does not take as much time to bring that image up on your website. You can remove the HTTP request code in the text editor of your wordpress back office. You want to grab the image right from your image content folder that’s on your wordpress site and not have to go look for it on the net.  Let’s go over this once more in the next paragraph.

Whenever your web browser fetches a file like a page or a picture from a server, it does so using HTTP. [Hypertext Transfer Protocol]. HTTP is a request or a response protocol, which means your computer sends a request – e.g. [Get me the file [ WordPress Design.html ], and the web server sends back a response, Here is the file, followed by the file itself.

All actions produce HTTP requests that are sent to the server. The server replies to each of these requests. The browser uses these server responses to build each page that we see in its window. Some of the responses contain page text in form of HTML code, some contain images that we see on the page, and some carry additional data that is also used to display the page correctly.

WordPress Consultant will get asked about Twitter from time to time. How does it do for traffic? Or will Twitter affect page rank? So I thought I better investigate.

Over at Google Webmaster Central, it seems they have updated Page Rank, the link analysis system Google uses to rank individual pages on the net. Virtually everyone’s Twitter profile page has seen a fall in Page Rank. As a WordPress Consultant this concerned me. This made me wonder about Twitter as I notice a fall in traffic from the Twitter accounts I have.

Although some SEO specialists believe page rank is now irrelevant, others follow it religiously and still believe it to be a major influence on their sites rankings and that Twitter somehow adds to all of this.

Twitter co-founder Evan Williams profile page rank has fallen from 8 to 6. Dom Sagolla, the often forgotten Twitter co-founder, has had his profile page rank dropped to 4. Chris Brogan previously had a Twitter page rank of 7 that has now dropped to 4. Barack Obama was also on 7, now fallen to 4. Interestingly though, Twitter’s homepage has risen from 8 to 9. What the heck is going on here? WordPress Consultant wants to know.

Aside from the fact that this may affect Twitter’s gain in popularity, it also stirs discussion around the importance of Twitter profile pages. Not often a consideration, it’s interesting to think the value of a link from a Twitter profile to a webpage. Most people’s priority when someone tweets a link to their site is the number of followers that end up clicking on it, not the value that link back might bring to the site. As a WordPress Consultant this must be considered.

It also brings up questions regarding how many links back does your Twitter profile have? How good is the quality of content you are sharing? Are you better known for your twitter profile than any other place on the web?

Google WebMaster Tools is a great place to get started with the basics to Web Mastering. If you think about it who else would know better? Google Rules the internet with their search engine algorithm, so it might be a good place to give a look too. Somehow many seem to over look this great resource and get sold on outdated technology that make claims to do everything on auto pilot. When you get that spam in your email, just think to your self, what would Google think? Then hit the Delete Button.
